Were things better in the old days? Some claim so. And perhaps we can partly agree. Just imagine how wonderful it would be to go out and dance to swing music on a summery Saturday evening.
On this album, we try to recreate the image of the dance halls of the past, where elegantly dressed people twirl around in beautiful hairstyles under the glow of colorful lanterns. Songs from the Swedish jazz tradition that make us happy and that can evoke a sense of dreamlike nostalgia. We also want to take the opportunity to pay tribute to Povel Ramel, who in 2022 would have turned 100, by performing two songs from his rich songbook.
The question of whether things really were better in the old days is up to each person to answer. But one thing we know is that wonderful moments are worth pausing to enjoy. Because as Povel Ramel so wisely says:
'Take your chance before it slips away, for the wonderful is brief.'"
